 Authentic cameras work greatSep 15, 2011

FIRST OF ALL: These appear to be Authentic cameras. Apparently numerous sellers on Amazon and eBay are peddling knock-offs. I bought another camera from Amazon and the audio didn't work and the packing was different than these--it appears to have been a fake.
I've been running both of these cameras for 2 weeks now, and they're fully functional, work with the iPhone apps, the iPad apps, and everything appears functional. Very happy with them so far.
- Video Quality: High.
- Night Time Video Quality: Good, much less grainy than our SafetyFirst cameras
- Documentation: Not too bad. I was impressed that for a Chinese import company, the documentation was pretty good. The installer software was a little bit pitiful, but eh.
- Setup
- Basic setup (network, password): Not too painful. If you know basic networking, you're a little bit better off since you can lock the IP to the device (either at your router or otherwise) so that you don't have to keep hitting the app to find the device--it's always at the same IP address and you use your browser. Otherwise, in short, it was easy to get working and it just functioned. Only negative is that the device resets after you change each parameter (a password, networking settings, the name, etc.)
- Advanced setup (DynDNS, Port mapping, iPad/iPhone): OK here, this is painful. Not because of Foscam, but because this stuff isn't easy. They make it as easy as I could imagine: DynDNS setup just requires filling in 2 fields (after you sign up), picking the iPad app took a bit of trial and error, and port mapping requires that you understand your router--no product can really help you with this. These are just painful things, and Foscam, like every other product manufacturer has no easy way to make that easier (short of providing a client-server application).
Overall: I'm happy these work this time, and the quality is exactly what I was looking for. BTW the iPad app we use is called "Baby Monitor" and explicitly states it works with these cameras. I just wish the app supported 2 cameras...

Purchased two of the cameras before going on a trip. We were able to check in on things at our house, including our kitties, making sure they and everything else was okay. I plan on ordering more for other areas in the house.

I now have bought 6 of these, 2 black and 4 white. I found these to be the easiest to set up and use. I have tried many others with little success.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of its optional mounting base which I don't use. (The camera is too heavy and won't remain in position)
We use these to monitor Family and caregivers in another state. 4 have been in non stop action for about 4 months.

These are great for remote viewing of my vacation home in Arizona. easy setup! Works well with SecuritySpy software and Live Cams Pro on my iPhone/iPad2.
