Good system with a couple of minor drawbacksJul 26, 2009
By Greylar Overall I have been happy with this system. The wires were easy enough to install. You will need a little mechanical ability to get the panels off your car and to splice into the backup lights. The monitor in the mirror is good quality. The camera is crisp and the colors are true. The only think i don't like is that the mirror is darker than a normal mirror. It is in night time dim mode all the time. I suspect it was done that way to match the reflectivity of the monitor portion of the mirror. I wish they had left the monitor portion non-reflective made the rest a normal mirror. At any rate it is entirely usable and I'm getting used to it. Also the camera is a little big and kind of sticks out a little on my nice new car. All in all I like having the monitor in the mirror. It keeps the clutter down in the car.

Great system at a good priceOct 26, 2009
By Luis H Although I would have liked the camera to be a bit smaller, I am pleased with the camera and the rear view mirror LCD screen. The system came complete with everything needed to install and the instructions were easy to understand. Even though the camera only has a 130 degree viewing angle, one can adjust the camera to eliminate almost all of the blind spot behind the vehicle. The camera does not have night vision; nevertheless, the picture is very clear when backing up in a city street. The rear view mirror installs easily and the picture is of good quality. I was concerned with a review that mentioned that the rear view mirror was darker that the regular mirror. However, looking through it is manageable and not as bad. Overall, this system is good for the price and I would recommend it.
Update as of 8 Jan 2010: This rear view camera system continues to perform very well!! My wife, the primary minivan driver, loves the system. I saw a review that mentioned the picture quality was poor and erratic. I had the same issue when I installed it. However, I fixed this by connecting the mirror's ground wire to a better ground location. I am very pleased with the system and I just bought two more to install in my pick up truck and my son's car.

awesome!Dec 03, 2009

I recently purchased this sysytem. It was pretty simple to install, only trouble I had was my reverse light on my 02 Chevy Silverados hot(usually black wire) was green {usual ground color} so I wired my camera wires backwards the first time around following the instructions, then after some experimentation I realized the green was the hot and the black was the ground. So the use of a voltage meter would save you the trouble I went through. The product works just like its supposed too, the picture is clear and the multiple mounting angles are a plus. Also the product overview doesn't say that the camera has audio, or that theres a optional audio-video input connections (for hookup of dvd, or playstation), don't know how much use they would have in the rearview mirror but they are there which is a plus! very happy buyer over-all
A very good product for the moneyNov 04, 2011
By Southman Prior to purchasing this, I bought one of the Peak wireless cameras. After getting it home, the Peak camera did not seem like it would last too long, and had the look of a cheap auto parts store accessory, needless to say I returned that one without opening the package. I kept looking for a decent quality camera in the $120 - $150 price range, and was about to give up when I stumbled upon this one. After it arrived I was impressed with the quality of the components, i.e. the camera body was aluminum, the monitor was solid, the instructions were easy to understand.
I installed it in about 3 hours, only had to remove a few interior panels and run the wire to the back of the truck. A word of caution, installing this is not for someone with little to no knowledge of automotive electrical systems, as the instructions are not detailed, nor should they be. However, if you are someone who has done things like changed out a radio head unit, installed fog lights, or an alarm system you will do just fine. You should improvise a little bit, with a few items that do not come with the kit, but really improve the quality and longevity of your installation, primarily plan on about using 50 or so zip ties, use splicing taps, and run all of your wiring in split looms where ever possible, this will add about $5 to your cost.
As for the finished installation, if the mirror did not say 'Audiovox' across the top, you would swear that this came from the factory, I have no problems with the function or the view from camera, I'm really impressed with it.
One feature that I did not enable was the abilty to hook the monitor to a second input such as a DVD player, I utilize it stricly as a backup camera.

I bought this Rear View Mirror 3 years ago and installed in my SUV. Never had a problem with it. Works as a charm. I love the fact that has a microphone. It is a great feature. The picture is full color, clear and great at night. I definitely recommend it!!!
