5Low profile, high quality camera with good night visionJan 03, 2010
By Truck driver
We combined this camera with a rear view mirror monitor (Boyo VTM 600 M) and had both installed via BestBuy's GeekSquad for 85 dollars as a wired system on our full size pickup truck. The camera is barely visible on the license plate frame when you look at the back of the truck, but with it's good quality CCD sensor and 150 degree angle provides a very good picture.

4Good for what it is intended, but can be better.Sep 04, 2009
By D. Malkin "dimamal"
I bought this camera and am generally happy with it. It has a very low profile, can't even tell that there is a camera present (especially if your car has a part of bumper that sticks out over the license plate area). I used anti theft screws to secure it, but paid for the installation. The picture is low-res but good enough to discern license plate numbers of cars lined up behind you and works better than expected in low-light conditions.
It would be nice if Boyo would include distance markings that would allow you to judge how close/far you are from objects - otherwise it takes a bit of guesswork initially to know how close an object is based on where it is on a screen.

5Low profile and great night visionJun 30, 2009
By Joseph Good "Captain Nerd"
You can't even tell there is a camera on your plate unless you get very close to it.

The documentation says it has good low lux visibility and they are true to their word. The first night I used the camera, I thought out loud, "Wow, you can see the entire street."

It is a noisy picture, though, both during the day and at night. It is a tiny cheap camera with a regular a/v feed. I didn't buy this for the clear picture. I did buy it for the 150 degree wide angle lens and it does the job quite nicely.

I'm waiting to see it survive in the rain now...

5Great backup cameraNov 04, 2010

I am impressed with how well this camera works, particularly at night. Although the image is a bit grainy when it is dark, as one might expect, it is perfectly viewable. You can make out everything.

4Purpose of License Plate CameraAug 02, 2009
By M. R. Munoz
In an RV, I would understand the use of a back-up camera. However, I do not yet see the purpose for a rear license plate camera on a sedan. I do feel there should be a detailed explanation on its use and purpose before spending nearly $160.00
