Stay away!!!Sep 17, 2010
By B. Spader This product is junk! I ordered on expecting to order at least 3 more but found out that the product is complete junk.
I highly recommend getting the LTS IR LED instead google "LTIR50". I have used this other product and it is 10 times better than the one offered here for about the same price.
I received the first LED and I was only able to get it to light up twice by shaking it many many times. I tried for about 2 hours to get it to light up properly and no luck. So I contacted the seller via email and let them know and he informed me it had to be in low light conditions (less than 10 lux) to light up. I politely let him know that I was fully aware of this requirement.
Then he quickly agreed to ship me another light. After receiving the second light I immediately noticed that something was wrong when I looked in the light and I saw a whole bunch of debris inside of the light. So I first plugged it in to see if it worked, and it did not. Then I opened the light and quickly noticed that a capacitor blew. I have pictures of it blown but I can't post pictures to this review.
Long story short, I contacted YY Trade to let them know the second light was also broken and they said it I was doing something wrong because they tested it. So I sent both back to them completely broken with disconnected wires and they continued to say they tested it when they got it back and they worked which is impossible with disconnected wires and blown fuses.
SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

Junk. Didn't do anything for me.Jul 14, 2010

I tried this with multiple network surveillance cameras and also a video cam. It did nothing and made no difference.
Also, they will only refund the item price. Which means, I am out a wasted $20 for roundtrip shipping for this cheap piece of junk.
Since this company will not tell you either way in advance for sure if this device will work for you, I think they should share this cost . Also, they barely speak English, so tech phone calls are out of the question.
You get what you pay for. Stay away.

Excellent IR illuminator (But see my updated comment below)Jan 25, 2009
By Gary G. I am using this IR50 as an auxillary illumination source for my Astak wireless video camera system at home. The IR source is well made, and puts out plenty of illumination. At night, with the wireless video surveillance cameras ( 0 lux with IR), I can clearly see the length of my front yard (about 65 feet) plus the house and yard across the street from mine (about 130 feet distant) with plenty of brightness. The illumination angle is about as stated, 15 degrees. Within this 15 degree angle, people are clearly visible (in black & white, of course). I am very pleased with this product and would purchase another if I needed more area coverage. (Nov 2009: But see follow-up comment below... Disappointing)

The proof is in the pictures. See for yourself.Feb 01, 2012
By Stickman I really question some of these one star reviews. Something is fishy. I have posted before and after pictures along with a picture of a competitors 96LED IR Illuminator which costs more than this one. I have purchased over a dozen IR illuminators and everyone I bought from this CM company has been an excellent buy. No IR illuminator will give the range the seller states (it's usually about half of what they say) but when I compare cost with performance, I have been very happy with the product here and have bought many more.
