This is a great productJan 26, 2011
By Wildeboare The Homesitter exceeded my expectations in every way. It called me a week after I installed it and advised me of a power failure. Later on it called again and told me there was a power failure and a low temperature condition. After going to the property and lighting an auxiliary heater, it called me to say that there was a power failure, but no temperature alarm. Finally it called to tell me that its batteries were getting low (power was still out). At one point I called the phone at the property to see if the answering machine would pick up. If it did, I would know that the power had been restored. To my surprise, the Homesitter answered and said there was a power failure. The only negative is the wire on the water sensor is very short, but it does tell you what gauge wire to use to extend it. The supplied wire is not long enough to extend the water sensor to a basement sump while positioning the Homesitter unit in the house proper for temperature sensing.

Great product - minor complaintJun 18, 2011

I tested this product before going away on vacation. I poured a tiny amount of water on the sensor, and it dialed out IMMEDIATELY and sent a water alarm voice message. I also pulled the plug, and after an hour, it dialed out again and issued a power failure alarm. I like that you can call it remotely and get status.
My insurance company approves of this device, meaning I do not have to arrange for someone to come into the house every 24 hours when I am away on vacation. That alone saves a lot of troulbe for me.
My one complaint (4 stars instead of 5) is the audible alarm - it is not loud enough to hear unless you are standing right beside it. I don't care, because I bought it for the telephone alert, but if you are expecting the adible alarm to wake you in the middle of the night when basement starts flooding, it won't do the trick. If you don't care about that, then this is a great product.

Worked fine, for just one yearJul 02, 2011
By Windy City Psychologist This product was just the thing I was looking for for my rural second home. Set up and programming was not particularly easy, but I tested it and overall it seemed to be working fine. Unfortunately today, roughly a year after purchase, it sounded an alarm indicating water leakage. Thankfully I was onsite when this false alarm sounded; it would have been an embarrassing imposition to ask someone to check on the house only to discover that everything was fine. As far as I'm concerned this product is not reliable, and for such items reliability is paramount.

VERY GOOD PRODUCT!!!May 31, 2011
By RICK The product worked just as it described. I set it all up, put water on the sensor and it called me just as it was supposed to, telling me of a water condition. Same as for the power outage. I cut the power to the Alarm Dialer and it called my number. I didn't need to test the temperature sensor. Just like the other reviews, it's well worth the money and piece of mind. The only thing I would have liked to see was a longer water sensor wire. But it is very easy to lengthen it, as it describes. Just cut the two wires and make it longer. I still give a five star rating.

Life Saver!Feb 18, 2011
By Caral Masback While I was out of town, this little device called me and notified me of water on the floor. I called a friend who found that I had a burst pipe! The water was turned off immediately and the insurance company notified. While there was significant damage, it was caught so early that it was only a small fraction of what could have been. (I have friends who had a leak that caused $100,000 and they were out of their home for months.) This is easy to program, (I'm no techie). I was also able to reset the unit by phone. It offers great peace of mind for less than $100. I have recommended this to many friends and will get another for a 2nd location.
