5Must charge Batteries...!Oct 14, 2009
By M. Goring "Michael Gee"
the batteries are Dead in the box... Must be charged, manual states 2days of sun before switching on...

i put Regular AA batteries in the thing to test and Boom, as bright or Brighter than a 150watt bulb...
my neighbor comes out wondering, where i picked up an H.I.D. shed light...

Wholly poop, i am buying another one, after i type this...

3Works okay.Nov 02, 2009

I wanted something to light up the alleyway between my house and my neighbors', and really didn't want to pay an electrician to run wires to the back two corners of my home. So I bought two of these as it was a cheaper alternative.

The first thing I noticed upon taking the light out of the box was the disappointingly cheap grade of plastic it's constructed with. It really does feel rinky-dinky, and I'm concerned with how long this thing is going to last, being exposed to the elements.

The light works fine, however, as does the motion detector. I have the sensitivity set midway, and the light comes on as soon as I step in between mine and my neighbor's home. That's all I wanted really. This light is about the same brightness as an LED flashlight. It will NOT light up the same brightness as a light that is hardwired into the home, but it will definitely get someone's attention if they're trying to sneak around the back of my house.

For what I'm using it for, it's fine.

1Don't do it!Dec 23, 2009
By Tim Daye
I have always been a fan of H/Z lights. I have two other that work great. I just needed this one to light up the area around my outside trash cans. I even let the thing charge for a week before I turned it on. It worked good for about 2-3 weeks. Now, the light barely comes on. Maybe it will get better in the summer when the days are longer. Who knows? Right now, its just an ornament on the side of my house.

4As long as you charge it it works greatSep 20, 2010

I have had mine (2) for @ least 2 years and it works great. As long as you fiqure out where the sun will be @ 12N and point it at that angle it gets enough sun all day to work all night if need be.
I live in Hawaii, and with the VOG (Volcanic Smog) it can be not the sunniest of days but it still charges. Once you keep track of the sun through the year it'll be maybe 4-5 times you have to angle it a little. The batteries started not holding 100% of the charge around year 2, so that's not bad.
The light floods the area like a prison yard, no hiding if you get caught in it's motion detection. It has deterred 6+ people who came on our property. Motion sensor works great does not come on for every leaf falling, actually catches animals and people when needed. Scares the mongoose and wild pigs real bad.

5Love this lightJan 03, 2010
By Sid W. "Sid W."
Better than I expected. Bought it for my sister's house and mounted it on the eve of the carport. Worked perfectly the first night with minimal solar charging. Lights up a huge area. I am buying one for me.
