The system is used house-to-barn (day) and barn-to-house (night) Unlike the previous unit that could be set to Xmit when leaving the barn, and the house unit set to Rcv after getting to the house, this unit cannot have both Xmit switches on even for the transit time between stations. The previous system lasted 4 or 5 years. This Westinghouse unit lasted about a year, then became intermittent, often with great static scratching blotting out the sound. I do not recommend it. I will now go looking for a replacement, one that does not have a description or appearance similar to this "China Special".

I would have given this product zero stars since the intercoms do not work through walls -- not floors -- in our office. It only worked when they were in the same room together, defeating the purpose of the need for an intercom. The intercoms were within five feet of each other, just in different rooms. Awful product. Don't waste your money.
