2Remote internet viewing unstable - UPDATED (now 3 stars)Sep 12, 2010
By PAL
I also had the QLR0440 card and upgraded to this one for the remote internet viewing feature using the Lorex DDNS service. It was easy enough to install the card and get the server running, but the remote viewing is another story. This card is very different from the QLR0440. I'm computer savvy, but not an expert when it comes to networking/routers/DDNS stuff, so I had to rely on Lorex tech support to get me going. Mind you, there's only about a 30 day window to return this for a full refund.

Well, after numerous unanswered e-mails and a few calls where I had to hang up b/c I was on hold too long, I finally got through to tech support after a 30 minute hold. The tech guy got me going with properly port forwarding my router (the Lorex port forwarding tool did not do it properly), but the DDNS service would not take my username/password and I know it was correct. The tech and I tried everything and he said he'd have to call me back after checking into it. I finally rebooted my PC and it worked... but only for 4 or 5 days during Labor Day weekend. I was able to view my cameras over the Internet at work that Tues, but when I got home and tried to view them on my laptop, I kept getting the 404 page not found error. That continued the next day at work, so that evening I called tech support back. After another 20 minute hold, I got someone. Again, we tried everything and it turns out they had to refresh something on their end (not sure what) and it worked.... but only for a day. Same problem as before. Couldn't get through by phone and sent a long e-mail to them with explicit details on the problem and previous solution. I got a response asking if my pc was on with the server running and to be sure it wasn't going into sleep mode. Pretty insulting, but I responded that no, that wasn't the problem. Still no response, and now I only have 4-5 days to return this for a full refund, so I have no choice. It could be a simple fix, but I can't risk it. Will try out the Qsee card, which is expandable anyway. I hope my existing Lorex BNC cameras can work with it.

Oh, I could never get the VistaPro6 client working and never got a chance to ask tech support about it. If the remote internet viewing had worked, I wouldn't even need to use the client. Perhaps the same reason that the remote internet viewing stopped working caused the client not to work... not sure.

UPDATE: 9/15/2010
I've come to find out that there are other DDNS services out there. I'm now using one called No IP. After two consecutive days, I have not had any issues with remote viewing so I have decided to keep this card. If I could, I'd change my rating to 3 stars. The negatives are due mainly to their tech support. By the way, they never did respond to my last response to them.

34 channels only not upgradeableJul 11, 2010
By rich
Product works as advertised on a pc. The software that runs this card implies that you can have four cards in the
same computer for a total of 16 channels. Unfortunately the software does not support four cards but only one for a total of 4 channels. If you only need four channels and never plane to upgrade and add more then this card will do.

1dissapointed at the leastAug 22, 2011
By insanity0x1
i had high expectations for this card, seeing A)the retail price on thier website, and B)the Lorex brand's history; i was so wrong. i bought it on amazon because i could save 100 some dollars, and im glad i did. the quality of this cards video resolution is pretty pathetic. i have thier CVC6999U camera on it, which is an outstanding camera, and it looks horrible. at 540 lines with regular TV's, it is great with colors, but this card just dummies it down exponentionally..also note, i was using lorex's cheap 30$ cameras (340 lines) bought from radio shack, and thier resolution (using the card) was equal, to even better then the CVC999U that i have.
if for some reason you were tricked into thinking this thing is DDNS ready, laugh yourself to sleep, i (like MANY others) have sent emails to thier tec support and well..7 months later..im still waiting for help. ive set up 2 seperate accounts with DDNS with this card, hoping the next one would work, but no.somehow my ports got mixed up to when i try opening remote viewing, my router opens up.

just stay away from this card, its such a waste of money.

1Hardware: OK, Software: BADOct 25, 2010
By J. J. Villegas "Pepito"
I bought this card to use with my cameras, The hardware is ok, but the software is awful, it is slow when changing settings and very difficult to understand (this is my third Card, so I know how other brands work). One disadvantage is that the software does not keep the time and date on the captured video, this is a MUST when receiving notification by email or viewing the video captured.
Another issue is that for some reason the software is not sending the alerts via email, even it is well configured and sending the test email.
I am returning the product right now.

Card works great but the software if pure junk. Fails 2 to 3 times a day. Tech support is non-existent. Would not recommend to anyone. Please find another card from someone else.
