These contacts were exactly what I needed to fix the security system in my new house. Actually, I only needed the magnets. They stick on and everything worked. They shipped fast and the price was good.

I'm sure it's a fine item, but I paid more in shipping then I did for the item itself, and I'm now a day after the last expected delivery date with no item, and worse, no email explaining why there's no item. If you're in a hurry, maybe Smarthome is not the seller you want.

It did arrive on the 6th. I've raised the rating to 3 stars. Hard to tell who dropped the ball, Smarthome or Amazon.
As for the switch itself, it's small and does the job. There's no audible click when it opens or closes, which I like. The mounting tape holds well; it can also be screwed down. The range of the magnet is as stated, and it works even if the magnet is a little above or below the face of the sensor, which is convenient. Nice little item; pity about the service glitch.

Nothing in my industry to be used as a "open verification" switch that tells a waterfall pump not to turn on unless the cover is open. Low-profile of this item was essential. It's handling the 24vac circuit perfectly.

I would have given it five stars except for the all-too-common practice of charging outrageous shipping - this could have been dropped in an envelope with two stamps for less than a dollar.
My Schwinn eliptical trainer started turning itself off in the middle of a workout. I traced the problem to a defective magnetic switch inside the machine, which meant the trainer thought it wasn't moving when it in fact was and shut itself off to save power. I could not find this particular switch - which had to be exactly the right dimension to fit inside the space provided - anywhere on the net. In desperation, I found this little alarm contact, the smallest and cheapest (excluding shipping!) on Amazon. I drilled a hole in the side of the bike, ran the wire from this switch to the wires inside, and used the included self-adhesive to stick the switch to the side of the bike wheel and the magnet to the wheel itself. Works great! (the speed and calories reported are wrong because the external wheel turns at a different speed than the internal flywheel, but that's hardly the fault of this switch.) Four stars because it was delivered promptly, packaged [perhaps too] well, and most importantly WORKED because its magnetic sensitivity is very long-range - about one inch (a less sensitive switch would not have worked because my jury-rig did not allow the switch and magnet to be mounted very close to one another). The one missing star is, of course, due to the inproportionately outrageous shipping cost.
