"Quality Seeker"
I purchased a Pocket DVR Pro II from Ultimate Gadgets through Amazon and didn't know what to expect. I wondered if it was a poor quality item made out to look good in order to sell, or if it was possible that it would do what they claim. I've had extremely good luck with Amazon customer service for several years, so I ordered it through them knowing they would be my safety net. It turned out that I didn't need a net. The product arrived quickly and in good condition. The quality of the device surprised me. This thing is very nice. I was recording in short order. It came fully charged as claimed in the included instructions.
After making a few test videos, my computer wouldn't recognize the USB device when I inserted it. I contacted Ultimate Gadgets customer support number. The guy that answered was very knowledgeable and eager to help. He said he would rush me a replacement device and he did. This one works flawlessly and I tested it under several different conditions. I love this thing! I mostly use the 640x480 mode and I find the audio quality way better than I expected.
Though the product impressed me very much, the Amazon-like customer service sealed the deal for me. I'm ordering another one as a gift for my brother. This time I'm not going to worry.

I ordered this from Ultimate Gadget, who supposedly manufactures this device, sells it as a lower price and has provided good customer service for me thus far. They even went ahead and programmed the time and date for me prior to shipping. All pluses.
Onto the device itself. When I opened the package, the first thing I noticed, or rather smelled was an overwhelming cigarette smoke smell on everything. Not a deal breaker, but curious nonetheless. The device is exactly what it looks like on the photos provided, with a pin hole lens on front and microphones on top. The opposite end has a removable cap that unveils the USB connector. It came with a 4GB micro SD card and an SD adapter, instructions, a USB cable.
I took some quick videos both indoor and outdoor. It handled movement well so there wasn't too much jerkiness to the video; a little grainy and troublesome in low light conditions, but is decent considering it came from a small pin hole camera like this. The audio is disappointing and full of static, but you can still hear normal talking volume over the static, just don't expect to record whispers well with this.
The USB is 1.0 standard, so if you record a long video, be prepared to take quite a while transferring the file to a computer. Video is in .avi format, a little less than 1MB/sec @ 640x480 resolution.
Overall, my impression is good. It exceeded my expectations on video but disappointed in audio.

Based on the reviews, i though this product will be poor at audio but it was one of the best spy pen i ever had. audio was excellent plus the vidoe recording, i record a 30 minutes of my friends at office and it really was amazing that i could hear all of them clearly and of course see them, the only difficulty u might face is how to adjust it at the right place to have a good angle. i really recommend this product from AUSTECK.INC sellers.

This nice little camcorder arrived very quickly and in almost perfect condition. The box had some slightly bent corners in shipping, but the contents were unharmed. In reading the product details you will note a major difference in the bullet points and the narrative details. The bullet points accurately list this as a 640 x 480 resolution camcorder. The narrative makes reference to a new generation that appears to be HD quality. Maybe they will come out with this someday, but for now it is the standard 640 x 480. I bought this hoping the narrative details were correct. The quality is okay for me. I wanted hands-free operation with decent video and audio. This product delivers on both. Some reviewers have complained about the small CD not working in their drives. I have a Sony VAIO laptop and it works fine in my machine. I haven't tested the claimed 3 hour battery life yet, but so far I'm liking this device. I will give this 4 stars because of the misleading narrative text. The camera functions as advertised.
